Welcome to the North Anglia Branch of the
Communication Workers Union Web site. We represent around 2000 people
in the Northern part of East Anglia mainly employed by BT. We also
look after the interests of a smaller number of members in other
companies. Nationally the CWU represents around 300,000 people
organised in more than 179 branches. The CWU is the largest and
fastest growing union in the communications and information
technology industries. It represents engineering, clerical,
secretarial, computing, retail, telephonist and postal grades in BT,
the Post Office, Girobank and over 100 other companies.

The CWU aims in its Statement of Values:
to provide first class collective and
individual representation for all CWU members
to achieve security of employment for all members
to offer individual membership services of the
highest quality
to expand trade union membership throughout the
communications industry
to promote, by industrial and political means,
the success of the industries in which our members work
to campaign against all forms of discrimination
to further these objectives by promoting the
influence of the union throughout the national and international community

In addition to normal Trade Union cover we
provide for our members:-
-
Insurance
The Communication Workers Friendly Society (CWFS) offers a range of
insurance services. The CWFS was founded by Post Office trade

non-profit making service. CWFS can be contacted on Freephone 0800

Energy was established to provide cheaper gas and electricity to
trade union members six years ago and the company, whose fuel is
supplied by ScottishPower, has already attracted thousands of union members.
In addition to initial savings and on-going competitive prices, Union
Energy customers also benefit from free Payment Protection** worth up
to £400. In the event of either voluntary or compulsory
redundancy, a customer's energy account will be credited with up to
£400 (£200 for gas and £200 for electricity) to pay
their energy bills when they need help the most.
There is very little hassle involved in switching to Union Energy. No
new pipes, cables or meters are required so there is no disruption to
your home, and you can even switch over the phone to avoid filling in
an application form. What's more, in the unlikely event that
customers are unhappy with the service, they just need to give Union
Energy 28 days' notice and they are free to switch to another energy supplier.
-
To find out how much you could save, call Union Energy on 0800 027 9000.
- Union Energy has launched a new initiative to reward existing
customers with £15 of Marks & Spencer vouchers every time
they introduce a friend or colleague to Union Energy who then becomes
a gas and electricity customer. For further information on the
"Introduce a friend" scheme, existing customers should call
Mike Jones on 020 7467 1274 or email: mjones@tuc.org.uk.
