BT: Reasonable Travel Time
8 December 2014
A number of branches have contacted Head Office with queries relating to an alleged ‘new policy’ on reasonable travel time. The Personnel Team have been in contact with BT Group and have confirmed that the general guidance on reasonable travel time, contained within the EDDI Agreement, remains unchanged.
The general guide is that it may be considered reasonable to offer a job that involves an extra journey time of 45 minutes each way, so long as travel in the individual’s time does not exceed 90 minutes each way on a regular basis. It has always been acknowledged that these times provide a general guide and are not absolutely definitive. These times have also been extended by the use of travel in Company time.
For clarity, the Company have confirmed there has been no change to the guidance on reasonable travel, contained within Annex A of the EDDI Agreement.
